* Patient Notice Regarding Online Repeat Prescription Ordering

From 1st March 2008 there will be two ways in which you can order your repeat prescriptions electronically.
  1. The ‘old’ way will remain for the time being.
This is the page where you need to type in your patient number and then each item you require. As this system is not totally secure and also it can be difficult if the spelling of the drug you need is complicated, we will withdraw this method in six months from now. It will be completely superceded by the method described below.

  2. Orders using ‘EMIS Access’.
You may already have registered for this service to make on line appointments to see a doctor. If you have, you will be all set to go on 1st March.

When you go onto the webpage instead of seeing only ‘Book a New Appointment’ you will also be offered the option to order repeats.

If you select this option you will see a full list of medicines which you have been prescribed on a repeat basis and you merely need to tick the relevant boxes, type in which surgery you collect from and any other relevant message and submit the request. When the Dispenser begins to deal with the request you will see that the screen will indicate that the medicine is authorised, but please do not assume that this means it is ready for collection. We will still need 48 hours to do the work, as before.

PLEASE NOTE that you will not be able to order repeat medication via Emis Access until 1st March 2008.

If you have not already registered for EMIS Access please do so without delay.

You need to go to your surgery in person with two forms of identification (one showing a photo, the other proving your current address).

The receptionist will print a letter for you which you use to register online and then you can use both elements of the service.

Please remember that whichever on line method you use to order you repeat prescriptions, we still need 48 hours between the request and the collection and that ‘acute’ or ‘one-off’ medications cannot be ordered in this way.
